Athena Asamiya is a character from Psycho Soldier who would later go to appear in the King of Fighters series. Her official nickname is The Psychic-Powered Idol.

Athena is a high school idol and a master of Chinese martial arts who fights for justice using her innate psychic power. She has a kind heart that cares for others and a strong spirit that stands firm against evil. She has many fans who find her polite and cute.
Athena is a distant relative and modern-day counterpart of Princess Athena from Athena. She is a regular fighter in The King of Fighters tournaments. Athena is best known for changing her outfit and hair style for virtually every main installment.
In the Metal Slug series[]
She marks her official debut in the Metal Slug universe in Metal Slug Defense as part of the "KOF 20th Anniversary Collaboration Campaign". She's a playable unit for the KOF Team.
Athena returns in Metal Slug Attack as a Regular Army support unit. Athena heals all of the player's deployed units regardless of faction. Unlocking her second skill also allows her to reduce the opponent's Regular Army units' HP (except boss units).
