Drones are a series of Regular Army artilleries introduced in Metal Slug: Awakening.
Information[]
Drones are small, flying weapon pods with a thruster on each side. They fly at the upper-right corner of the player and move parallel to them.
Types of Drones[]
Copy Barrage Drone[]
A drone that fires the same ammunition with identical stats as the player's current wielding weapon. It does not fire any grenades nor most of the characters' unique skill items. Similar to the Mobile Satellite, the drone targets independently from the player.
The Copy Barrage Drone can copy:
- The current character's weapon class.
- The current character's special weapon.
- The Slug's Vulcan.
- Marco's Two Machine Guns.
- Violet's and Lady Sun's cannons.
Copy Barrage Drones are a collectible, temporary subweapon in World Adventure randomly given by POWs or dropped from defeated enemies. In Hot Pursuit, a permanent drone can be randomly offered after clearing a level and is fully active until the end of a chapter or when the player resets their ability list. Lyla can summmon a temporary Elite Puffer Fish with the same ability as a Copy Barrage Drone after eight normal Puffer Fish are detonated.
In Joint Operation, the Firepower ability produces a Drone that fires small projectiles. Once the ability is fully activated, all players earn a temporary Copy Barrage Drone. Season 1 of Joint Operation Abyss also produces a floating clone of the player when Firepower is at 4+ Abyss Crystals and is activated a second time within operation.
Shield Drone[]
A drone that has a small percent chance to be summoned after hitting a target. The drone creates a shield around the player for a few seconds with a limited cooldown. It is found in Hot Pursuit as a ability offered at random.
Healing Drone[]
This drone flies using a propeller. When summoned, it stays still and spreads a 30% heal at all players within range and fires 50% healing mist at the currently weakest player in range of the drone. If nobody is present or the players in range are at full HP, the Healing Drone flies toward the summoner. It is activated by players with the Healing ability in Joint Operation.
Water Spirit Drone[]
A drone provided by the Tidal Heart to counter the Curse Bubbles in Joint Operation Abyss Season 2. By collecting energy dropped on the battlefield over time, the Spirit Drone allows commanders to use the clear current ability. The water spirit drone grows to unlock tactics and abilities, such as Combo ATK, at the Tidal Network. Two subseries of Spirit Drones are used to combat elemental Curse Bubbles:
- Cold Tide Drones counter Heat Curse Bubbles by unleashing Frost ATKs.
- Heat Surge Drones counter Cold Curse Bubbles by unleashing Lava ATKs.
