Guerillas are an enemy Ptolemaic Army group introduced in Metal Slug 5.

Information

These soldiers are outfitted for field operations, and are often encountered outdoors. They wear olive drab battledress over red or navy T-shirts, olive drab headwraps, and red or navy bandana masks.

Unlike the Rebel Army Fanatics, Guerrillas prefer close quarters and have access to knives, machetes, and riot shields. Their ranged arsenal is made of pistols, submachine guns, bazookas, mortars, and mines. The standard strategy is to set up ambushes to either quickly close in for melee or saturate the kill zone with firepower. In direct combat, Guerrillas pose a credible threat only in large groups.

They are seen piloting Jet Hammer-Yangs and Hover Units.

Metal Slug Attack introduces Guerrillas with dark-blue uniforms called Captains. They are commanding officers of the various guerrilla branches. Their better combat experience allows them to handle more powerful equipment and command ground troops. Two specific Guerillas were trained by Dragunov to serve as Caroline's bodyguards whenever she's been captured by opposing armies.

Troops

Standard

	Guerrilla Soldier: Standard field soldiers.
	Bazooka Guerrilla: Soldiers with long-range bazookas fighting on the ground or descending from a parachute.
	Guerrilla Mortar: Soldiers with modified mortars that allow them to shoot faster and farther.
	Shielded Guerrilla: Soldiers with a sturdy shield for defense. They attack using machetes and pistol fire.

Captains

	Guerrilla Captain: Commanding troops capable of rapid knife swings.
	Shielded Guerilla Captain: Commanding troops who harshly bash enemies with their sturdy shields.
	Bazooka Guerilla Captain: Commanding troops with bazookas which ammo can explode into a misty-purple stun cloud.

Bodyguards

	Bodyguard: Guerrilla equipped with an Iai Slashing Sword. They first ready themselves before making long slashes at extremely rapid speeds.
	Shielded Bodyguard: Shielded Guerilla who can ram their way onto enemy lines.

Navy

Guerrilla Navy: Guerrillas who are part of the Ptolemaic Army naval unit that are requested to capture the activated Water God. They attack by converting the energy of water, so they can fight without refueling as long as they fight near water areas. Appears in Metal Slug Attack.

Trivia

• The Guerrillas' scarves share the same color palette with the game's blood. As such, their scarves change from red to gray if the blood setting is turned off.
