The Hoist is a transport device introduced in Metal Slug 4.

In Metal Slug 4's final mission, the Regular Army Helicopter arrives above a vertical tunnel and slowly descends the heroes by rope. They unlatch themselves once reaching the bottommost floor.
When on the hoist, the player cannot jump nor aim vertically. They can move in all directions; the player travels faster vertically than horizontally. They also turn slowly, although this can be negated by firing a shot which turns them instantly. The hoist provides no protection.
In Metal Slug Defense and Metal Slug Attack, the Regular Army Helicopter lowers down the soldier by hoist to shoot their weapon. They are pulled back inside once they're done.
Trivia[]
- The player's sprites on the hoist are edited versions of the scuba sprites from Metal Slug 3. Marco and Trevor reuse the weapon unclog animation even though they're above water.
