Metal Slug Wiki

Iron Cavalrymen in Hell is the third mission of Metal Slug: Super Vehicle-001.

Mission Locations[]

  • Valley: The first half of the mission begins at the bottom of the valley. The players climb upwards by jumping through various platforms and gaps; Rebels are usually seen near the edges to impede progress. Note that the camera does not scroll downwards, so falling off the bottom side of the screen is instant death.
    • Metal Door: Halfway through the switch is a Danger Barrel protected by a large door. Continuously shoot the large button to raise the door as it slowly lowers down. Be careful of the lying Bazooka Soldier near the barrel. Once the barrel is destroyed, the players can progress.
    • Ramp: Near the top are Rebels rolling a large indestructible snowball down a ramp. When in two-player, they roll the snowball much faster.
  • Top of Valley: Allen O'Neil is found and fought here. Proceed right when he's defeated. Sometimes, a Grey Alien is seen in its UFO in the background.
  • Rebel Base: A large base protected by an Iron Iso and a Grenade Soldier on the roof. When inside, eliminate the Rebel soldiers and the Di-Cokkas. One Rebel escapes through a toilet. Near the end of a base is a warehouse with various Rebels by the windows protecting a Danger Barrel. Destroy it to make the nearby Rebel catch on fire and run inside the building, causing the base to explode.
  • Forest: Near the destroyed base is an SV-001. The forest has two layers of ground that are both traveled by the players, Rebels, and the Girida-Os. The Tani Oh is found in the middle of the forest below the players.

Prisoner Locations[]

There are a total of 17 rescuable POWs in this mission.

  • Right at the beginning of the stage;
  • In the next platform after killing the first bazooka soldier;
  • Before you enter the warehouse, under a tree;
  • As you enter the warehouse, on a pile of sandbags;
  • After you destroy the three Di-Cokkas, hanged over the TNT barrel;
  • After you destroy the first Girida-O, on the bottom platform;
  • Over the previous one, in the upper platform;
  • (random)(2) Will appear randomly as you destroy the second tree;
  • As you approach the boss;
  • (many) Will fall from time to time as you're fighting the boss;

Trivia[]

Gunforce 2 Cameo MS1
  • Although hidden by the foreground, a dead ground troop from Gunforce II is seen by the rubble.
  • In the "Tank-Only" version, this mission was originally traveled all horizontally; everything before the Rebel Base section was changed to a vertical section in the final. According to rumors, the mission was heavily criticized by play testers for its harsh positioning of the platforms combined with the slow and sluggish movements of the SV-001 against the already mobile and versatile Rebel Soldiers.
