Katherine is a character introduced in Metal Slug: Awakening and serves as the fourth boss of Joint Operation.
Character Summary[]
The High Sergeant of the "Mysterious Forces" known as the Dark Commander.
The commander of the gravity and magnetism lab of the Rebel Army. In charge of the gravity controller, she enjoys toying with her enemies by reversing gravity. In charge of dangerous experimental weapons, she can easily use gravitational devices to control huge objects and attack enemies with them. Her exoskeleton suit isn't to be underestimated either.
She used to be an ordinary employee that designed and tested military devices at the arms factory. During an accident in the gravity reversal experiment, she bravely stepped up and stopped all the devices in the experiment area before anything serious happened. She lost an arm and a leg, but she also gained the ability to control electromagnetic energy. Morden thinks that since she can control magnetic forces, she can take command of the factory.[1]
Boss Synopsis[]
Katherine flies around the arena using a weaponized jetpack similar to the Armed Tiltrotor. Like the Flying Core, her main attack is collecting and throwing pieces of scrap at the players while also using them as a shield. Scraps are picked up in smaller pieces and thrown in different directions or in a large chunk to rain down at a player. She also fires multiple buzz saws that travel around the arena's perimeter, and deploys two Mech Drones to assist her.
When she flies at the center of the arena, Katherine fires golden harpoons in a circular spread or slams them all down at a player.
After dealing nearly a full bar of damage, Katherine's jetpack malfunctions, most of her clothes tear out, and she gains new attacks. Katherine attempts to rapid fire at one player and slam a bunch of scrap down at a wide area of the arena.

Trivia[]
- Her weaponized jetpack resembles the Machine Gun Jetpack from Jetpack Joyride.
- In early beta tests, Katherine was spelled as "Catherine". Her arena had two sets of gravity platforms on the floor and ceiling that sent the player up to the opposing surface when they stepped on them.
