Last Ditch Resistance

This article's name isn't actually the official subject's name, but will be used as a quick reference until SNK is kind enough to provide us the official name.

"Last Ditch Resistance" is the fifth and final mission of Metal Slug 5.

Mission Synopsis[]

The Ptolemaic Army has engaged in an all-out attack on Osaka using a mobile base leaving a massive portion of it ablaze. The heroes hop on the Slug Mobile to reach the area quickly before their enemies do additional damage. Once arriving, they take a shortcut through the subway before reaching the mobile base. A large demon is seen and fought at the base's highest point. Defeating this celestial beast apparently ends the Ptolemaic Army's tyranny, and the day is saved once again.

Locations[]

Highway Bridge: An auto-scrolling with the heroes on the Slug Mobile; destruction of the Slug is an instant loss of a life. The bridge has several open gaps to jump over. Various Ptolemaic vehicles and missiles fly by at quick speeds.
Inner City: The heroes park here to continue the mission on foot.
Esaka Station Subway Tunnel: A greatly defended subway tunnel with various Ptolemaic soldiers and units attacking on all sides. The Augensterm is found and controlled here.
Flaming Area: The besieged portion of the city where the Ptolemaic Army has done the most damage. Several Commanders join up at once near the end of the section.
Inner Base: A mechanical tower with several Masked Soldiers and Units.
Exterior Towers: Smaller towers that must be jumped over while dodging the falling Maggots. The Gaia Elephant is fought here.
The Roof: The top of the tower. Nobody is seen here. That is until the Avatar of Evil makes its grand appearance and starts to fight.

Prisoner Locations[]

There are five POWs in this mission. "Great!" bonus is impossible in single-player.

Trivia[]

Although the Stone Turtle, Ptolemaios and his towers are unused, the structures can be seen in the background right at the start of the mission. Debug level names and specific unused sprites suggest that the Stone Turtle would have been found in the flaming area section.
