Laura is a character introduced in Metal Slug: Awakening. She serves as a boss in Altan Mission 1-3 of World Adventure.
Character Summery[]
The longing for adventures is genetically coded in humans, a kind of inherited wiring that equates adventures with benefits. In some sense, adventure is a human instinct. Laura was born into a family filled with adventurous genes. Laura's father was a legendary treasure hunter. To her, the legendary figure of the old man lives on in her memories, notes, bonfires, and the fragrance of barley tea. And her own legend unfolds at sea, and nowhere else.
Laura grew up listening to stories of Atlan as her bedtime stories. The fantastical depictions had her questioning if they were firsthand accounts from her old man or secondhand tales. But deep down, she always hoped they were true. The ocean covers 70% of the planet, and it would be quite boring if it didn't conceal some magnificent lost civilizations.
Story[]
One day, where Laura was looking for treasure in a nearby island at the Midnight Triangle, she noticed that the Rebel Army occupied the island. Fortunate enough after Neso rescued Marco, she mistakenly noticed him as part of Morden's men and decided to ambush him. She failed and made a hasty retreat where Marco gave chase. due to a misunderstanding Laura join's the two to find the secret entrance to Atlan. once they have finally reach there destination, she bids farewell and go their separate ways.
During that time she ran into trouble with the Rebel and Atlan Army and traded a few trinkets to friendly merfolk for Atlan treasure, eventually she have been reunited with Marco accompanied by Ajax who were trying to save Neso from Anke from unleashing the seal to the Ocean Heart. later on due to sustaining a heavy blow she is last seen covering up the rear in order to not slow them down, not considering her last farewell, once she recovers she will be restraining the pursuers using her Grappling Hook as a diversion and gave them her only request to them is to save Neso, eventually the two left her to continue their mission.
Boss Synopsis[]
Laura is fought in a flat arena featuring two platforms on opposite ends and three hook rings only she can use. Her main attack is firing single shots from her sniper rifle at the player from the ground or on the hook. Laura's sniper is also a laser gun; she fires it straight ahead when on the ground or does a field sweep on the hook.
She can throw knifes at the player and cover the ground with landmines. When up close at the ground, she swings her gun around in a circle. If below her, Laura swings on one of the hooks and does a ground slam producing a shockwave on both sides.
Once she's wounded and her hood is destroyed, Laura uses an upgraded sniper rifle. She can fire multiple bullets per shot, deal more damage, and extend her range of her swing attack.
Trivia[]
- Her design and fighting style are similar to Dragunov and Avvio from Metal Slug Attack.
