Mai Shiranui (不知火 舞, Shiranui Mai) is a character from both the Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters series of fighting games by SNK. Her official nickname is The Alluring Ninja Girl (魅惑 の 女忍者, Miwaku no Kunoichi).

She returns back as a playable unit in Metal Slug Attack along with Terry, Kula, and K´ now affiliated to the Regular Army as part of a collaborative King of Fighters promotion. Her move set and fighting style has changed dramatically since her appearance in Metal Slug Defense, shifting her focus from close to long-ranged attacks.

Teaming up with Andy to participate in World of Fighters has always been Mai's obsession. She was not frustrated by Andy's rejection, but formed a new team, Female Fighter Team, to prove to Andy that his decision was wrong. This time, she arrive to the distant Land of Metal Slug while traveling and practicing. Facing the current chaos and turmoil, she has a premonition that she will become a world-famous strongman, surprising Andy with her prowess!
Mai returns once again in the Season 06 version of Metal Slug Awakening as a playable character for the second KOF crossover event. she retain some of her abilities from Metal Slug Defense and Metal Slug Attack.
