The Masked Soldier is an enemy introduced in Metal Slug 5.
Information[]
Masked Soldiers are cultists who make up the elite of the Ptolemaic Army. They wear white masks with glowing red eyes, a color hood that matches with their shoes, and a white robe.
They possess supernatural abilities, orchestrating the events of the game from the shadows, and are rarely seen in combat. They are only equipped with a handgun that fires floating homing projectiles (called Curse Balls) for self-defense. Most Masked Soldiers resurrect after a few seconds of being killed with gun rounds for the first time.
The origin of the cult is unknown. Presumably, it is shown at the end of Mission 1, where one of the Natives is struck with lightning after finding and wearing the white mask. Apparently that's what the Ptolemaic Army was looking for in that forest.
Variants[]
![]() |
Masked Soldier: Standard members of the cult. First seen in Mission 3 of Metal Slug 5 running away and later talking to a Commander and a group of Special Forces. They often pilot Ptolemaic Saucers. Unlike other cult members, Red Cultists do not resurrect after being shot. In Metal Slug Attack, the Masked Soldier summons Units from its saucer, and continues fighting on-foot when knocked off. |
![]() |
Masked Soldier (Abyss): Elite cultists who act as guards. First seen in Mission 4 of Metal Slug 5 in an area of the underwater facility, fleeing along with a Red Masked Soldier, and later in Mission 5 guarding a stolen Augensterm in the subway section. In Metal Slug Attack, this variant underwent a ritual and now has attacks that go beyond this dimension. It controls a variant of Ptolemaios' tower. |
![]() |
Masked Soldier (Curse): Commanding cultists who rally Ptolemaic troops from their Ptolemaic Saucer. In Metal Slug Attack, this variant was resurrected the same time as Ptolemaios' first defeat. |
![]() |
Masked Soldier (Green): High ranking cultists expert in ancient weaponry. They first appear in Mission 5 of Metal Slug 5 where they fight the player in the tower section. |
Trivia[]
- Just like the Guerrillas, when setting the blood off, the Red Cultists' hood turns to light grey as it shares the same color palette as the game's blood.
