Minelayer Soldiers are an enemy group in the Metal Slug series.

Guileful yet dangerous, they lay mines in the hopes of killing careless Regular Army troops. Minelayer Soldiers lay the mine down by either sneaking into the battlefield or just running in and dropping it. The timing of the mine varies although the explosion kills anyone in its vicinity including enemy troops and the Minelayer themself. Any of the Fanatics can be also Minelayers; they attack once they drop their mines.
Future Minelayers deploy mines that look and behave like a Drop Shot. They drop the mines by turning away from the player and opening their backpacks.
