Minerva is a new character introduced in Metal Slug Attack.
Minerva's past is unknown, but she apparently left her home to go adventuring, having lost all meaning in life. During her travels, she became an expert knife fighter and became a mercenary until she settled with Esther's tribe. When she's not travelling and selling her services as a mercenary, she serves as Esther's chaperon, teacher and mother figure. She's well respected in the tribe for her vast knowledge, strength and charisma.
She is accompanied by an ostrich companion which appears to be a mutant itself; it is capable of shooting out both electricity and fireballs, and its head is covered with a facemask. When the battle becomes too intense, the ostrich companion flees and Minerva begins attacking enemies with her knife.
Minerva first appears in the Extra Ops "Daughter of the Dusk", where Clark Still lands on a supposedly remote island to test out a new Ball Slug. His visit has not gone unnoticed by the local fauna, and is attacked by several caterpillars. Minerva is made aware of the intruder and believes they should drive them out with all their warriors. Esther thinks otherwise, as another all-out war would cause them to move again after they did so when the Rebel Army attacked their village and stole the Huge Hermit. Minerva decides to go along with Esther's plan first.
When the two arrive, Esther has the caterpillars stand down while Minerva speaks with the intruder. She tells Clark to leave and forget everything he saw. Clark is surprised that the island is inhabited, but complies with Minerva's request. Before he leaves, he advises her to prepare for war as the surrounding waters will be dangerous in the upcoming future, though she dismisses his claims.
