The Mummy Army are a Ancient Egyptian supernatural undead group that first appeared as minor recurring enemies in the Metal Slug series but were later expanded as its own independent faction in Metal Slug Attack.
Summary[]
Led by one of the former rulers of Egypt, the Pharaoh. Many of his pyramids were constructed by the architect Sharifa; he and his servants would be placed in one of these and put into a deep slumber. They would not be disturbed for thousands of years, until archaeologists began exploring the pyramids and looting their valuables. Despite the intrusion and awakening, the mummies generally don't leave the ruins and are mostly neutral. They only attack those who dare disturb their tomb or steal their ancient treasures.
The Mummy Army is made up of undead mummies and specialize the use of deadly creatures, traps, and ancient weapon artifacts such as the Construction Golems and Dark Gate.
History[]
Metal Slug 2/X[]
The Mummies serve as ancient guardians of the Ajirabian ruins and as the main enemy group in Mission 2. They are awoken and enraged by the excavating Miners in the area and began turning one them into mummies. They are confronted by the P.F. Squad and S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S while exploring the ruins and are eventually defeated.
Metal Slug 3[]
Mummies are fought in the Mummy route of Mission 4 accessed by unlocking a manhole on top of the pyramid. The Mummies are encountered in the Oro Sol Ruins of South America/Mexico, in which they guard the ancient ruins along with Sol Dae Rokker. Its unknown whether these ruins belong to the Pharaoh, one of the mummies affiliated, or neither. Regardless, the Regular Army squad wipes them out before arriving at an abandoned storage.
Metal Slug 4[]
In Mission 4, various actual mummies mingle with the dressed-up employees at the mummy attraction, "A King's Curs(e) Site". Green Hazmat Soldiers belonging to the Amadeus Syndicate produce mummies of their own by reanimating them. The second half of the route has multiple mummies guarding the exits.
Metal Slug Attack[]
The Mummy Army have been expanded into its own independent faction led by the Pharaoh and his former priestesses along with newer types of mummies such as the Mummy Warriors and Mummy Cats. They attack those who tried to rob or disturb their ruins during their awakening. Throughout the game's life, a new member of the army wakes up and reacts to the new era's culture and technology.
Metal Slug: Awakening[]
Mummies are fought at the pyramid and serve a different Pharaoh from Kemut. These mummies have been expanded to work alongside mythical Egyptian creatures such as Jackal Warriors, Serpentman Guards, Falconmen, and other followers of the Pharaoh. The Mummy Army serves as the main antagonist force in Season 1 of World Adventure, and they eclipse the Rebel Army in commonality once the heroes enter the main pyramid.
