The Regular Infantry are the Regular Army's main troops. They differ from the Rebels by their light blue uniforms. They debut in Metal Slug Advance.
Information[]
Regular Soldiers are professionals from around the globe often tasked with peacekeeping and infiltration missions. They often cover a support role as the World Government prefers to deploy special teams to infiltrate enemy fortifications and minimize civilian casualties rather than engaging in long all-out battles. This explains their lack of participation in most battles carried out throughout the series.
Regular Army Infantry wear a light-blue colored uniform and helmet. Their equipment is similar to that of the Rebels although they often show higher skills, improved accuracy, and better agility. Scientists and Research Division officers sport white lab coats.

In Metal Slug 3D, the Regular Soldiers are recognizable from their Rebel counterparts as the design of their helmets is slightly different and sport a woodland camo design. They also have no armbands, don't wear a backpack, and wear a slightly different harness.

In Metal Slug: Awakening, the Regular Soldiers no longer wear uniforms that sport a woodland camo design but instead are recognizable for wearing eye protection gear and radio on their left side of their uniform.
Appearances[]
Metal Slug Advance[]
Tyra, Walter, and a group of Regular Cadets were lead by their instructor to a remote island for training. The instructor was actually Allen O'Neil Jr. in disguise, and he brought them to a Rebel base where the Regular Cadets were caught by the Rebels. The Regular Cadets act as POWs, giving the player items for rescuing them. They only appear in Mission 1 (except for one in a cinematic in Mission 3) with the standard bearded POWs replacing them for the later missions.
Metal Slug Defense[]
The Regular Soldier is a starting unit in Metal Slug Defense. They have the same attacks as a Rebel Soldier: a slash and a bomb throw. They are also stronger and cost more than a Rebel but not by much. Their description enforces that wars are won by numbers.
Metal Slug Attack[]
The Regular Soldier returns as a starting unit. With the introduction of skills, the Regular Soldier is now able to dodge attacks (unlike the Rebel Soldier who has an extended special attack). The Regular Soldiers appear in certain Extra Ops as comedy relief. A group of Regular Cadets make a cameo in the "Boy Memories" event (a recreation of Metal Slug Advance) as Allen Jr.'s hostages.
Since Regular Army infantry appeared in this game first, Amadeus Syndicate infantry (who usually wear darker blues) sport violet uniforms.
Regular Infantry are seen in the following vehicles:
- 7000 Class Locomotive
- Slug Square
- Slug Flyer
- Drill Slug
- Slug Striker
- Tail Slug
- Golden Regular Army Truck
And use the following equipment:
- M-14 (Cadet rifle)
- Anti-Materiel Rifles

Metal Slug Infinity[]
Regular Army soldiers appear as playable unit. They wear dirt grey urban uniforms and a large helmet with a headset connected to it. They attack using Heavy Machine Guns and grenades that slow down and stun enemies, respectively. Previously, they wore Santa Camo and attacked by firing holiday stars and throwing gift boxes. Because of their unique appearance from other installments, they are considered an original unit by the game.

Trivia[]
- The Regular Infantry were once supposed to appear in the first Metal Slug as prisoners. When rescued, they would help the player by fighting alongside or on top of the SV-001. They would also use any nearby turrets. Their captured and rescued animations were reused for the Rebels in Metal Slug 3 and the Regular Cadets in Metal Slug Advance.
- The Regular Army soldiers in Metal Slug Infinity resemble modern day army soldiers (namely the U.S. Marine Corps going by their camo color).
