Tarpu is a character introduced in Metal Slug: Awakening and serves as the ninth boss in World Adventure.
Character Summery[]
Tarpu has a bad temper, but is also a doctor of engineering with great strength. With his brute force, his go-to method for fixing a thing is to hammer away until it's working.
Even though Tarpu wields the sturdiest shield and the most destructive hammer in his hands, these powerful weapons cannot overcome his heart disease. In order to replace his unhealthy heart with a mechanical one, he selfishly led the Rebel Army to the entrance to the Pyramid, hoping to find the legendary Heart of Abundance.
Everything Tarpu did stemmed from a father's love for his daughter. Soon after the outbreak of the Morden War, he was afflicted with a serious heart disease. Yet he could not bear to die and leave his precious daughter alone. In order to prolong his life, he sought high and low for treatment, and eventually met the Rebel Army. However, after the heart surgery, he lost his memory. He couldn't even remember his most cherished daughter, Lyla. Could a person remain the same if their heart was changed?[1]
Story[]
Dr. Tarpu is a scientist and a brilliant engineer from a unnamed village. He is Lyla's father. He has a somewhat fiery temper but is very knowledgeable about the pyramids of Kemut and has incredible strength to lift a large hammer to work on his inventions.
One day the Rebel Army captured the village's researchers including him, and both Tarpu and Lyla got separated ever since. Due to a weak heart and having little to no time for a heart transplant, Tarpu resorted with the use of a mechanical heart. However, the heart cost him his sanity making him a completely different person. Marco and his team had no choice but to take him down. When he collapses in a fight with Marco and his group, he briefly regains consciousness, but dies while saying sorry to his daughter.
