KOF: Maximum Impact 2, released in North America as The King of Fighters 2006, is a 3D competitive fighting game produced by SNK Playmore and released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. It is also released for the Arcades under the title The King of Fighters 2006: Regulation A. It is the sequel to The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact, which itself was a spinoff of The King of Fighters series. It contains a lot of Metal Slug references.

This game have lots of unlockable features, such as new characters, new costumes for the characters and new game modes. Ralf Jones has a special costume which resembles Marco Rossi, while Clark Still has a special costume resembling Tarma Roving. Both costumes can be unlocked by beating the Story Mode or any challenge from the Challenge Mode. Fio Germi is also a hidden, playable character in this game, similar to Marco in Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum. She can be unlocked by beating the Story Mode. There is also a special challenge in the Challenge Mode, where the player must beat a Metal Slug using only his own arsenal of moves. The more you advance on the challenge, the more difficult it gets. Various hazards are added to the arena, such as landmines and lasers. The Metal Slug will also attack, either by trampling or firing it's cannon.
